I was chatting with a guy with a 944 earlier this week that's in the process of cleaning up his car. Now I didn't get to see the car, but I know it's kinda dark grey like this.
He wants to take the modern PORSCHE letter badge that's on the newest cars, paint it a flat or glossy black and put it on his car, kinda like this one below.
What do you think Oppo? I think it's kinda tasteful and subtle.

I think it's a cool idea, but I personally think the old school block style lettering looks way better.

Old school? I kinda thought that this newer block style was the same?
This might sound shocking, but please find me an example of the old school? Unless you mean this:

It's all about the debadged look.

I guess it depends on the specific car.

You know this reminds me of something I was thinking about the other day.
I'm kind of bummed out by how Porsche is doing things these days. They have so many versions of their cars that they feel the need to explain everything:
First it has to remind you that it's a PORSCHE (as if we can't tell)
Then it tells you it's a 911 and also mentions that it's a Carrera. Why both? We all know what a 911 looks like. Either call it a 911 or a Carrera. There is really no need to say both, IMO.
I see why it says 4S. You and I would know it's AWD due to the light bar but the casual observer wouldn't know and the owner wants you to know that he spent more on AWD. I think that's kind of silly as who cares, but that's how some people are... Same goes for the S.
I think it would look better if it just said 911 4S or Carrera 4S. Everyone already knows it's a Porsche.
And how about the opposite? Instead of saying the model how about just saying PORSCHE? Or just showing the Porsche shield?
Take the Ferrari 458 for contrast. It feels no need to tell you which model it is or to even spell out Ferrari. It just shows the horse and lets you figure out the rest:

That, is LOGICAL!

Isn't it?
Going to google now to see if anyone put just a Porsche shield on the back of their car

I cannot find!
Now we have a goal!
We need to make all ze monies so one day we can order a brand new GT3 that has nothing but ze Porsche emblem on the ze back!

No one should do dat! EVER!
![]() 07/06/2014 at 13:46 |

no? why not? would be cool!
![]() 07/06/2014 at 13:47 |

But would be weird....
![]() 07/06/2014 at 13:48 |
|
but also unique!
nobody else would have it. which would make it cool
and we wouldn't have to worry about people not knowing we have ze GT3. anyone who needs a badge to tell a real GT3 apart from a 911 with a bodykit is a moron :)
![]() 07/06/2014 at 13:51 |

But we could just put GT3 on ze back and drive with these all ze times:
